Education and Professional Positions

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and history from the University of Colorado in Boulder.  While at the University of Colorado I was a member of the Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society and a member of the University of Colorado’s women’s soccer team.

I earned my Master’s Degree in counseling psychology from the University of Colorado in Denver and I have additional endorsements in school counseling (K-12).  While in graduate school I worked as a Special Education teacher in a Colorado Department of Youth Corrections facility.  I completed internship hours at the University of Colorado Clinic, North High School in Denver, and Centennial Peaks Hospital in Louisville.

Following my post graduate courses I held a position as a Special Education teacher at a residential treatment facility for children.  In that position I provided testing, group counseling, implemented and created Individual Education Plans (IEP)/ 504 plans and provided educational and therapeutic services to children ages 8-17.

For a number of years I worked as a county social worker before starting my own practice.  My social work positions provided me experience in counseling challenging kids and families, crisis intervention, group services, forensic interviewing, treatment planning and custody recommendations to the court.

In the last several years I have been working in private practice providing counseling and parenting services to children and families in the Parker area.   I have taught DUI education classes, facilitated substance abuse groups and worked with children whose parents have substance abuse issues.  I am also a partner in Families Adjusting to Change and Transition (FACT).  FACT provides parenting services including the state required “Parenting After Divorce” course.  You can read more about FACT at www.factcolorado.com
