Education and Professional Positions

Marikay White has been a licensed therapist for 17 years, and is licensed in Colorado and in Kansas.  She has maintained a private psychotherapy practice in Parker, CO since 2003.  She is a co-founder and faculty member of FACT (Families Adjusting to Change and Transition), an organization providing parenting education to divorcing couples.  Marikay White’s adademic history includes a bachelor degree in Medical Technology from Kansas State University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kansas.  She has completed an internship serving persons with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as an internship addressing the impact to  family members of persons experiencing substance abuse from the respected Menninger Foundation in Topeka, KS (currently in Houston, TX).  Beginning in 1993, she has worked in medical settings, corporate settings, as well as in group and private practice.  Additional areas of experience include certification as an adult trainer and program developer, as well as an instructor of Parenting with Love and Logic.

Marikay’s experience includes the treatment of depression, anxiety, emotional adjustment to chronic physical illness, family of origin issues, as well as other parent-child relationship concerns.  A special interest is Women’s issues and the sociological impact of world history as well as specific family history on the self-concept of individuals.  Marikay utilizes a “strengths perspective” approach, empahsizing the client’s self-identified needs, treating the “whole person” including the consideration of physical, emotional and spiritual perspectives in co-creating a mutually agreed upon treatment plan.
