Stefany received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina in 2002. While at Charleston Southern University, Stefany was an active member of Psi Chi National Honor Society. She then received her Master of Arts in 2008 from Colorado Christian University in counseling. During this program, she conducted research that was presented at the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association Conference in 2008.
Stefany began counseling in Virginia in a residential treatment center for male juvenile sex offenders. She then was a counselor at Denver Rescue Mission at the Crossing campus in Denver. At Denver Rescue Mission she worked with individuals and families dealing with homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and family issues. For the past few years, Stefany has worked with families and couples working through a variety of issues.
Stefany specializes in working with children and teens struggling with parental divorce, behavior issues, and self-esteem struggles. She works with couples with marriage or relationship issues and families struggling with parenting and communication. Stefany also teaches the Parenting after Divorce class for FACT of Colorado and leads group therapy for children needing social skills training, adjusting to divorce group for children, Parenting with Love and Logic, anxiety groups, and self-esteem groups.
Stefany's modality of treatment consists of cognitive behavioral, family systems, and client-centered perspectives. Stefany has many years of experience working with couples struggling with relationship issues, children adjusting to divorce, children with Obsessive compulsive disorder, parent training, blended families, children with motivation or behavior problems, and children with developmental disorders or ADHD. In addition, Stefany teaches the Parenting after Divorce class for FACT of Colorado. Stefany specializes in group therapy with children struggling with social skills and impulsivity.
